Toulouse FC will sign Venezuelan international midfielder Cristian Cásseres Jr. from the New York Red Bulls, sources involved in the deal told The Athletic on Thursday. The sources were granted anonymity as they’re not authorized to discuss the deal publicly.
Cásseres’ contract expires this winter, but the Red Bulls will receive a transfer fee for the midfielder to join Toulouse immediately. The fee could be more than $1 million if performance-based incentives are hit.

Cásseres, 23, originally came to the Red Bulls in 2018 and made 126 first-team appearances. The box-to-box midfielder has been a key starter the last three seasons. He was acquired from Venezuelan side Deportivo La Guaira. He has 20 caps with Venezuela.
Toulouse finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season. The club was interested in signing Cásseres when his contract expired but pushed to get him this summer instead of waiting for January.
The Red Bulls sent several new contract offers to Cásseres earlier this season but were rejected. Cásseres wanted to head to Europe. Last summer, the Red Bulls rejected several transfer offers for Cásseres.
RBNY sits 11th in the Eastern Conference with 23 points after 19 matches this season. Cásseres started 16 games.
